Light in Boston

“Elmers” (acrylic on paper), by Jason Brockert, in the group show “The Measure of Light”, at the Copley Society of Art, Boston, through April 11. (Remember the aroma of the glue? Almost as rich as the mimeograph fluid that people of a certain age will remember.)_

The gallery says the show “explores both the measurable and lived qualities of light. It considers how light defines form, shapes mood, reveals color, sparks change and influences how we experience the world around us.

‘‘Artists are invited to interpret the theme broadly. This may range from direct depictions of light and shadow to works that use light as a symbol of clarity, resilience, or hope. Especially in uncertain or difficult times, light can represent guidance, possibility, and forward movement. This exhibition looks at light, natural or artificial, harsh or subtle, as both subject and tool in the artistic process.’’
